Urša Rupnik (1984) has a university degree in culturology and a degree in dance and choreography. She works with important Slovene choreographers and creates own projects. She has been an assistant to world-renowned American dancer, choreographer and teacher Joe Alegado and a member of his international dance group Jalegado Dance Company since 2008. She teaches in dance workshops and provides classes in Slovenia and abroad, using the Alegado Movement Language method. Since 2014, she is a habilitation assistant for Dance Expression at the Faculty of Pedagogics at the University of Ljubljana. She is a recipient of the Meta Vidmar Decree and her dancers received the highest honours at the state and international competition Opus 1 - dance miniature.
Class is based on the Alegado Movement Language method. The initial phase is characterised by simply but dynamic warm-up of the entire body, followed by structured floor exercises, movement exercises in vertical position and spatial combinations, which I upgrade with final dance improvisation and/or composition, made of technically modified dance elements, motifs and movement principles. I pay attention to movement danceability, softness and expressive interpretation of dance material.
Study at the Dance Academy is active. The programme is based on dance classes of selected dance orientation (modern dance, jazz dance, standard and Latin dance, and social dance) where dancers are trained in creativity and expressiveness, dance techniques, and understanding and controlling their bodies and space.
