Courageous students helped Franček

Three students of social gerontology Alma Mater Europaea have shown in the last few days of the year that charity has no limits. In less than two weeks, they had helped to renovate the apartment of the 70-year old Franček from Ptuj.

A fire destroyed the modest home of Franček from Ptuj in December. "The fire started when I was out for a walk because I left the candles on the advent wreath burning," Franček, who is considered to be a good and working person by people from Ptuj, explained. With a modest income which sometimes isn't enough to survive through the month decently, he could not afford to renovate. Students Lidija Ribič, Vlado Miljković, and Darjan Kocmut offered their help. "The apartment was no longer suitable for living. We painted it, cleaned it, renovated the floor and arranged a new kitchen," says Lidija Ribič, student of social gerontology at the Alma Mater Europaea.

"We thank the Chamber of Crafts of Ptuj for help during painting, renovation of floor and windows, the company Panles for the kitchen and ceramic cooker, the Šmigoc furniture salon for the complete bed and night table, the Ptuj student home for accommodating Franček during renovation, and PP Gostinstvo for providing warm meals during the renovation of the apartment," the students are adding.
