Member of the European Parliament, Franc Bogovič visits Alma Mater


Maribor, 8th January 2016. Member of the European Parliament, Franc Bogovič, who is also a member of the Committee on Regional Development, visited Alma Mater Europaea – ECM today. Prof. Dr. Ludvik Toplak, the President of Alma Mater Europaea – ECM, explained the dimensions of AMEU, established under the patronage of the EASA.

The distinguished guest was mainly interested in the study programme Regional Development and Urban Planning and in the international alliances of AMEU. In a discussion with Prof. Dr. Felix Unger, the President of the European Academy of Science and Arts (EASA), who is also the President of AMEU in Salzburg, they considered the possibilities of including Alma Mater Europaea in the European education system to answer the growing need for coherent regional development in Europe and especially of the educational training for Bottom-up individual stocks economy.

The Member of the European Parliament, Franc Bogovič, emphasised the need to include Slovenes with academic potential in the open European labour and knowledge market. Furthermore, he highlighted the opportunities and advantages of AMEU to be involved in the European Danube macro-region and the Adriatic-Ionan Initiative that are becoming a tool of the European regional policy. He underlined the advantages of Slovenia, which is included in both programmes and in the emerging Alpine macro-region. The member of the European Parliament expressed his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Felix Unger for the invested effort in developing a coherent European area and the intercultural communication in accordance with the principles on interdisciplinarity, transnationality and building bridges.
