The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has appointed Borut Ambrožič, Head of the INFO INPEA POINT at Alma Mater Europaea - ECM, as a member of the Commission for the Management of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

The INFO INPEA point for health protection and protection of the rights of older adults has been operating at Alma Mater Europaea ECM for several years. Borut Ambrožič, the head of the info point, a local expert on non-governmental organization and in the field of health protection and related human rights, has been appointed to the Commission for the Management of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) for the second term.

Students participated in the rehabilitation of elderly people, who have recovered from COVID

Kristina Kerbler and Matjaž Lobnik, master students of physiotherapy Alma Mater, performed testing of elderly people who have recovered from Covid-19 at the Danica Vogrinec Nursing home in Maribor. This took place under the watchful eyes of their mentors Mladen Herc, M.Sc. assistant prof. dr. Tine Kovačič.

New president of student tutors is Nikita Polner

The first meeting of new student tutors in the new academic year 2020/2021took place via video conference. This year, there are as many as 33 of them in all study fields, which is the highest number so far. Among all the candidates, Nikita Polner, a third-year student of Physiotherapy program, was elected president.

Professor Jurij Toplak at the Yale University roundtable

On October 16, the Yale Law School organized a roundtable about democracy in Eastern Europe. Sarah Genty, a Yale J.S.D. candidate, moderated the virtual event titled "Autocratic Legalism in Europe". Kim Lane Scheppele, professor at Princeton University, presented her research on deteriorating democracy in Hungary and Poland. Other presenters included the Ombudsman of Poland Dr. Adam Bodnar, and Paul Kahn, professor of constitutional law at Yale.

Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard Professors at the Alma Mater Europaea symposium

The Slovenia Times published an article about the ''Free Speech in the 21st Century'' conference and called it ''this year''s most significant international virtual conference on freedom of expression. The article reads: The event was one of the largest virtual scholarly meetings so far this year, featured 52 speakers and 130 attendees. "It was a unique round-the-clock and round-the-globe event. During Asia''s daytime, Asian and Australian speakers presented, when it was daytime in Europe and the Americas, scholars from Europe, Africa, the US and Canada presented," Jurij Toplak said.

ESN publishes pioneering research on the impact of COVID-19 on student mobility

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has conducted a research on experiences of students and trainees across Europe regarding the impact of COVID-19 on their mobility experience, in which 21.930 international students and trainees in Europe provided information about their experiences. The report aims to support policy-makers to make decisions and alter communication in order to answer the major challenges students face during their exchange in foreign countries.

The evaluators extend the international accreditation of Alma Mater

Alma Mater has received an extension of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE) international accreditation for further 4 years for its management programs. ECBE is an international accreditation body based in Brussels, which, on the basis of its quality standards, contributes to the development and improvement of management, business and economics study programs.
