Recognition of previous education

Candidates who have finished their education at institutions out of Slovenia and wish to study at Alma Mater are obliged to submit the Application for recognition of previous education in order to conclude the enrolment process.

To the application form attach:

  • Original copy of last education certificate (completed high school or university degree) with transcript of records

  • Table of contents of the programme/subjects (syllabus)

  • A confirmation of payment: Enrolment/ Application fee (EUR 100) and Nostrification fee (EUR 100). See the pricelist here.

The process is conducted by the authorised commission at Alma Mater Europaea. The deadline to issue the formal Recognition of previous education is two months from the date of receiving complete application.

Transfer of credits

If you have already obtained credits/ finished courses at other institution, you may be able to transfer some of them at undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at Alma Mater Europaea. Completed courses or credits may allow you to begin your studies at a more advanced stage within your chosen program.

To apply for the credit transfer, you will need to provide us with:

  • filled application form

  • Original copy of last education certificate (completed high school or university degree) with transcript of records

  • Table of contents of the programme/subjects (syllabus)

A student applies for credit transfer at the Commission for Student Affairs. The commission accepts applications by November 15th at latest in the current academic year. Candidates submit the application for recognition of ALL subjects to be recognized during the course of studies.

On the basis of the Decision on recognition of previous education or course transfers, students may apply for reduction of tuition fees for a current academic year. Reduced tuition fees can be claimed by those who have received at least 20 ECTS in given year. The tuition fee is reduced by 30% if 20 ECTS - 30 ECTS are recognized in each year, or by 50% if 31 ECTS - 40 ECTS are recognised in each year. The application for reduction of tuition fees has to be submitted no later than 8 days after receiving Decision on the recognition of study obligations, otherwise the application is not granted.

The Commission for Student Affairs will recognize knowledge, skills or abilities that, in terms of content and complexity, correspond with the whole or in part to the general and/or subject-specific competences defined by the study program, on the basis of the statutory criteria (defined in the Higher Education Act, Ur.l.RS, No. 67/1993 with amendments and Criteria for Transitions between Study Programs, Official Gazette of RS, No. 95/2010).
