Graduate of the Academy of Dance, Johanna Greiner, gained valuable insights into the life of an artist in the "free scene" during her four-month internship with Darrel Toulon and Boštjan Ivanjiš at Alpha Group. This experience allowed her to delve into the art world, where communication, management, and research are as important as artistic skills.
As part of her content and creative tasks, she participated in the selection week, where she witnessed Toulon’s "Docu-Dance-Theatre." This method was based on transforming contemporary testimonies into artistic performances. The participants' sharing of their personal stories about Lebensborn was both challenging and profoundly enlightening. Johanna learned how history shapes identities and developed a lecture for the symposium based on Aleida Assmann's theories of cultural memory.
Lastly, in her career development tasks, she collaborated with Boštjan Ivanjiš, who helped her improve her application materials and provided valuable guidance on becoming a professional in the field of dance. Inspired by her family history, she developed the concept for an intergenerational project focused on traditional carpentry.
Overall, this internship was a significant period for her. Johanna stated, "My internship gave me confidence and new skills in public relations, event management, and artistic reflection. I realized that creativity is fundamental to my work and that my history can shape my future. I will use this experience as a springboard for further exploration and engagement in the artistic world."
