How can science, politics, and design unite for a better future? That was the central question explored by participants of the UNWASTED Forum 2025, held in Opatija from May 16 to 18.
Among the distinguished guests who supported the vision of a sustainable future was Prof. Dr. Ludvik Toplak, Rector of Alma Mater Europaea University.
The UNWASTED Forum brought together leading political, science, design, and technology experts. Discussions focused on identifying legal and societal pathways to protect the environment from systematic destruction.
As part of the event, Prof. Dr. Ludvik Toplak met with representatives of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) and the Club of Rome. At the heart of these talks was the continued development of the global initiative "Vision for the Global Peace Offensive"—a movement that unites scientific and political actors pursuing world peace. Alma Mater Europaea University is key in bridging science and diplomacy within this initiative.
Dr. Toplak was reunited with His Royal Highness Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš of Montenegro on the forum's sidelines after more than two decades.
Alma Mater once again affirmed its international engagement and leadership in sustainable development, human rights, and global dialogue through its participation.
