The Alma Mater Europaea University has begun procedures to open a campus in Austria, where it plans to offer a physiotherapy study program and a doctoral program in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"Austria is facing a growing shortage of physiotherapists, which is causing concern among healthcare workers and patients. This shortage affects the quality and accessibility of care. We are extremely pleased that Alma Mater Europaea will start Physiotherapie Studium in Vienna," said Dr. Emma Huber, a physiotherapist in Vienna.
"Patients are experiencing longer wait times for appointments, which can delay their recovery and negatively impact their health outcomes. Alma Mater Europaea is highly regarded in Austria, and we hope that they could offer physio study in cities such as Salzburg or Klagenfurt-Celovec," added Dr. Huber.
"With the nine existing physiotherapy schools, namely FH Campus Wien, FH IMC Krems, FH St. Pölten, FH Burgenland, FH Salzburg, FHG Tirol, FH Kärnten, FHG OÖ Linz, and FH Joanneum Graz, Alma Mater Vienna will be the first private school, and with it, Alma Mater Europaea University, with campuses in Ljubljana, Maribor, and Koper, will become the largest physical therapy (PT) school in Central Europe," said Max Wagner, an expert in health education in Europe.
Studantis, experts in transnational education partnerships, are actively involved in establishing the location in Austria.
With a campus in Klagenfurt, the Slovenian minority would have its first university-level program. Alma Mater also plans to open two research centers in Austria: the Center for Slovenian Studies in Klagenfurt and the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Vienna.
The location in Austria (www.almamater.at) will begin operations following the positive notification decision by the Austrian agency AQ Austria and by the Slovenian Nakvis.
