Artificial Intelligence Summer School

Professor Dr. Matej Mertik visited the first European Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (ESSAI & ACAI), which took place between 24 and 28 July 2023 under the auspices of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI).

The summer school was organized by the Slovenian Society for Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana, the Jožef Stefan Institute, and the University of Primorska.

The summer school is aiming to become an important meeting for students, researchers, and professionals, where they can discuss current research and exchange knowledge about artificial intelligence. Participants include the students of the doctoral study program Applied Artificial Intelligence at Alma Mater Europaea.

The event offers 24 one-week courses on various aspects of artificial intelligence. It hosts many researchers from world-renowned universities such as Stanford, Yale, Washington, Oxford, Cambridge, and others. Representatives from many companies working on artificial intelligence also attend, including Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and VMware Research.

“Through such events, we enable our doctoral candidates studying artificial intelligence to gain first-class experience and build a personal network. The next such opportunity for them will be in March 2024 at the international conference It’s About People. This will focus on sustainable development and the impact of artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, which burst on the world in 2022,” explained Dr. Matej Mertik.
