Professor Dr. Barbara Toplak Perovič attended the prestigious event Women in Science: The Best Is Yet to Come at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The event marked the initiative's 10th anniversary, promoting greater inclusion of women in science and technology.
The central theme of the gathering, Charting Progress to Shape the Future: The Best Is Yet to Come, focused on achievements, current challenges, and the crucial role of women in scientific innovation. Discussions also addressed the need for inclusive media representation to overcome gender stereotypes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Despite significant progress in increasing female representation in science, many opportunities for innovation, research, and groundbreaking achievements remain.
Dr. Toplak Perovič expressed her gratitude and congratulations to Dr. Polona Šafarič Tepež for the outstanding organization of the event, which brought together influential female scientists and leaders from around the world. Among the distinguished speakers and attendees were Iraqi princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite and Attallah Shabazz, daughter of the late Malcolm X.
"It was inspiring to meet so many dedicated individuals striving for the advancement of women in science. The discussions and shared experiences were incredibly valuable and motivating," Dr. Barbara Toplak Perovič emphasized.
By participating in the event, Dr. Toplak further strengthened her position on the international map of scientific and academic collaborations.
