Dr. Škof on His Innovative Philosophy of Breathing in a Prestigious German Newspaper

In yesterday's edition of the renowned German newspaper FAZ, the philosophical insights of the Dean of the ISH Faculty, Prof. Dr. Lenart Škof, were featured. The article outlines his life journey, with a particular focus on his innovative philosophy of breathing.

Slovenia is not just a land of rivers, mountains, and lakes, but also a landscape of philosophy. This small country, rich in natural and cultural heritage, was the guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2023. The opening address at this prestigious event was delivered by the renowned philosopher Slavoj Žižek. However, his work does not receive unanimous praise.

"I wouldn't necessarily recommend his texts to younger people," said philosopher Prof. Dr. Lenart Škof. "I disagree with his play with various forms of violence in philosophy—as political manifestations of human evil that have claimed so many victims throughout history. In his work Violence, Žižek claims: 'Love without cruelty is powerless; cruelty without love is blind.'"

Dr. Škof believes that Slovenian philosophers should be educators in a different sense. For him, this means "philosophizing in and from a country that has never dominated other cultures or states."
