First doctor of science from the field of Project management


"Alma Mater Europaea - ECM (Alma Mater) marked an important event in the development of its academic activity on September 30, 2021 – the first student finished his PhD in the field of project management and received the doctorate of science in project management," explained prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak, President of Alma Mater. Among the well-wishers was also professor Mladen Radujković, study dean of the doctoral study programme Project Management at Alma Mater.

As part of the international doctoral study programme in project management, doctoral student Gunnar Lühr from Germany was the first doctoral candidate to successfully defend his dissertation entitled "The impact of the last-planner system on the culture of the project environment." The mentor for this doctoral dissertation was assistant professor Marian Bosch-Rekveldt, PhD, M.Sc. Engineering, from TU Delft, the Netherlands, and the co-mentor professor Mladen Radujković, PhD, from Alma Mater. In his doctoral research, Lühr has included various fields of study in construction, international business, and project management, and combined them with his practical experience in the construction industry. He will continue his career as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany.

The PhD defense was chaired by the President of the Doctoral Dissertation Evaluation Commission, associate professor Matej Mertik, PhD, Study dean of the Study programme Web and Information Sciences at Alma Mater. Congratulations to the new Doctor of Science!
