The humanistic panel on the new European Renaissance, entitled Towards a More Sustainable Macroeconomic Concept for the Society of the Future - inspiration from the Renaissance, which took place at the conference It’ About People 2024 in Maribor, was moderated by the director of the Orkney International Science Festival, dr. Howie Firth.
"The lecture was based on the latest report prepared by the international panel for resources, which saw the light of day only a week ago and talks about trends in the management of natural resources, especially materials, especially about everything we can take from the land. The report clearly shows us that the existing production system, which we have developed and supported in the industrialized parts of the world, is unjust and wasteful. Therefore, first of all, we must ask ourselves how to meet our needs more energetically and economically efficiently," sums up Dr. Potočnik.
Raffaela Santi from the University of Urbino spoke about the inspiration from the Renaissance regarding the common good, which is also relevant today. Teun Dekker from the University of Maastricht, Carl Gombrich from London, and Samuel Abraham from Bratislava spoke about updating existing education models.
