Professor Dr. Gunnar Lühr is a distinguished academic specializing in construction management and project management. He leads a Master's program in "Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, and Construction Management."

Academic Background and Research

Dr. Lühr earned his Doctor of Science in Project Management from Alma Mater Europaea – ECM. His doctoral dissertation, titled "The Impact of the Last-Planner System on the Culture explores the integration of construction methodologies with project management practices.

His research interests focus on the development and influence of project cultures within the construction industry. He has extensively studied how leadership and management practices affect project environments, particularly in private, but also in public construction sectors. Dr. Lühr has contributed to the academic discourse through several peer-reviewed articles, including:

  • "The Influence of Leadership on the Projectification of the Public Construction Sector," published in Buildings.
  • "Key Stakeholders’ Perspectives on the Ideal Partnering Culture in Construction Projects," published in Frontiers of Engineering Management.
  • "The Last-Planner-System’s Impact on Project Culture," published in the Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology.

 

Professional Engagements

Beyond his academic responsibilities, Dr. Lühr actively contributes to the advancement of project management practices. Hereby, he in consulting professionals from the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector.

He serves as the head of the working group "Agile Methods in Project Management" within the German Association for Project Management in the Construction and Real Estate Industry (DVP e.V.). Additionally, he is a member of the "Lean Project Management" working group, a collaborative initiative between the DVP and the German Lean Construction Institute (GLCI).

Dr. Lühr frequently shares his expertise through lectures and presentations at industry conferences. Notable engagements include:

  • "The Impact of Different Cultures on Lean Construction Projects" at a prominent industry conference.
  • "Change Management in Construction Organizations: Strategies and Experiences" at an event dedicated to the construction industry in North Rhine-Westphalia.
