India Day at Alma Mater


The Embassy of India in Slovenia and Alma Mater Europaea – ECM prepared a joint event, commemorating the 157th anniversary of the birth of Rabindranath Tagore.

The Indian Ambassador to Slovenia, H.E. Mr. Param Jit Mann, organised an event, commemorating the 157th anniversary of the birth of a famous Indian poet, writer and painter, Rabindranath Tagore, who was also the first Asian recipient of the Nobel Prize for literature (received in 1913 for the anthology of poems Gitanjali). The event was hosted with help of Alma Mater Europaea under the title India day.

H.E. the Ambassador first, together with prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak, president of AMUE ECM, and the vice-mayor of Maribor, Mr. Zdravko Luketič, laid a wreath at the statue of Tagore in the Magdalena park. This was followed by the opening of an exhibition on Yoga, carried out by prof. dr. Dejan Dinevski.
