New Book on Advances in Geoarchaeology by Professor Ioannis Liritzis

Alma Mater Europaea University has published a new book, Advances in Geoarchaeology and Cultural Heritage, edited by the renowned Professor Ioannis Liritzis. The publication offers a comprehensive overview of interdisciplinary approaches in the natural sciences for studying archaeological remains and cultural heritage.

Professor Liritzis highlighted:

“The special edition Advances in Geoarchaeology and Cultural Heritage brings together various interdisciplinary scientific approaches from the natural sciences that study the past through archaeological remains and indicators of cultural heritage. The reasons and motivation for preparing and editing this scientific work are the great interest in advanced techniques that connect material culture, distant past societies, and the interaction between humans and the environment. It is intended for geoscientists, archaeologists, archaeometrists, experienced researchers, and postgraduate students.”

The book's first chapter, written by Assistant Professor Dr. Anja Hellmuth Kramberger, explores the emergence of hillforts and the possible impacts of climate change in the Adriatic region during the 2nd millennium BCE.

This book contributes significantly to understanding the connection between archaeological research and advanced scientific techniques, serving as an essential resource for those interested in the intersection of natural sciences and humanities in studying the past.
