President Pirc Musar becomes patron of the It’s About People conference


The President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, has become an honorary patron of the 11th Annual Conference of Europe’s Sciences and Arts Leaders and Scholars, It’s About People: Social and Technological Development in Service of Security and Dignity.

Nataša Pirc Musar has more than 15 years’ experience, gained at the Council of Europe, in matters of personal data protection and access to public information. Since 2012 she has been a lecturer on personal data protection at the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht, the Netherlands. She also regularly lectures as an external lecturer at the Maribor and Ljubljana Faculties of Law and the Faculty of Administration in Slovenia.  

Upon her recent election as President of Slovenia, she said, “Through my work so far as an active citizen, with knowledge, experience, and activities in various areas of public life and as a lawyer in the private sector, I have proven both at home and around the world in a wide variety of fields and environments that I understand what state interests are, and how to realize them.”

President  Pirc Musar will speak at the plenary session on March 10, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

Among the main speakers at the upcoming conference will be Jeffrey Sachs, professor at Columbia University, world-renowned economist, author, and global leader in the field of sustainable development; Jeremy Howick, Professor of Empathic Healthcare and Director of the Stoneygate Center for Excellence in Empathic Healthcare, University of Leicester; Felix Unger, Honorary President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts; Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts; Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth; Verica Trstenjak, former Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the EU, professor of European law; Sonia Ehrlich Sachs, researcher, Earth Institute, Columbia University and director of the One Million CHW campaign; Martin Kemp, Emeritus Professor, University of Oxford; Marinka Žitnik, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, School and other European leaders of science and art and scientists who will talk about social and technological development in the service of security and dignity.
