Alma Mater Europaea University has established a Rotaract Club in District 1912, Slovenia – North Macedonia, to promote active social responsibility and international youth networking.
Rotaract is a space where young people leave their mark locally and globally through knowledge, energy, and dedication. By founding the new university club, Alma Mater Europaea significantly contributes to this international network where young people actively shape a more just, connected, and compassionate society. The new club was founded under the mentorship of Rotary Club Maribor, which, as a sponsoring club, supports young members in their development, personal growth, and first steps within the Rotary community.
“Joining the Rotaract family means even greater responsibility for us. It means that local actions can translate into a global impact. This charter is our collective promise to work for the good of the community, combining professionalism, compassion, and volunteerism. We will not wait for others to act; we will be the ones to start. Thank you all for your support.” Lana Ritlop, President of Rotaract Club Alma Mater Europaea
"Rotaract Club offers young people additional personal and leadership development opportunities and active social engagement. We proudly support the University Rotaract Club Alma Mater Europaea as sponsors, providing knowledge, experience, and financial backing. We are glad to share Rotary values with the new members and contribute to developing a new generation of socially responsible leaders." Dr. Luka Martin Tomažič, President of Rotary Club Maribor
"Establishing the Rotaract Club at Alma Mater Europaea University is an opportunity for personal growth, cooperation, and creating positive change through intergenerational collaboration. It provides a platform for young people to develop leadership and organizational skills while fulfilling social responsibility. I wish all members to contribute with dedication to community development and create projects that resonate locally and beyond." Miroslav Štravs, Governor of District 1912
The club’s founding ceremony concluded with a gala auction, the highlight of the evening. Among the auctioned items were bottles of selected wines from exceptional vintages and batches, a unique painting from students from a study visit to Gambia, and a hand-crafted African mask from Ghana. The funds raised will support young people and further the humanitarian goals of the Rotaract Club. Rotary Club Maribor Park showed exceptional support by donating €100 each to both the Rotaract Club and the sponsoring Rotary Club Maribor.
The first significant story that united the members of the new Rotaract Club is that of Dušan, an exceptional person, athlete, and nature lover who started using a wheelchair after a spinal injury. Lana Ritlop: “Today’s event is a celebration of our new role in Rotaract and the start of our first joint humanitarian campaign. We are raising funds for Dušan’s home physiotherapy, a customized wheelchair, and to fulfill his greatest wish to feel connected to the world he loves again.”
