Special Honors given to Alma Mater students for the first time


Alma Mater Europaea - ECM chose Friday, 9. 12. 2016 for this year’s festivities.

We started with a festive Senate meeting, which was followed by the Faculty meeting of Alma Mater. The festive academy that took place in the evening in the hall Slomškova dvorana saw the first awards being given to honors students by Alma Mater president, prof.dr. Ludvik Toplak. This year’s keynote speaker was the academitian, prof. dr. Tadej Bajd, the president of the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU). Awards were given to: prof. dr. Božo Kralj for research work and support to the academic programs; to Mrs. Dragica Korenjak for her contribution towards raising awareness about Alma Mater Europaea - ECM, to Mr. Vojo Lukić for his contribution towards promotion of knowledge. Honors of the president, given to students with the best grade average were given to: Nika Šlamberger, Monika Jarc, Tina Barašin, Aljaž Jagodič, Gregor Komperšak, Špela Bobek, Lidija Gradišnik, Andreja Obran, Karolina Računica, Katarina Kac, Tone Slodnjak, Sara Lozej, Nikolina Šapit, Damir Korica, Vittorio Zanello, and Maria Cardinale. Honors for past work as student functionaries were given to: Simon Jelenovec, the 1st president of the Student Council of Alma Mater; Jan Pipan, the 2nd president of the student council of Alma Mater; Alen Kapel, the 3rd president of the Student council of Alma Mater, Franjo Kropej, former president of Alma Mater tutors; Leon Šerbak, former president of Alma Mater tutors, Merlin Zahaj, former president of Team Alma Mater. The following students received honors for sports achievements in the name of Alma Mater: Vito Dragič, Aljoša Tomazini, Teodor Knuplež, David Lugonjić, Dorian Hojnik, Florian Mavriš and Matej Rapnik. Two students received honors as the most active students of Alma Mater: Igor Legčevič for his voluntary work, research and project work and sports achievements, and Alen Pavlec for his work as the president of the Student council, for his contribution towards raising awareness about Alma Mater and the organization of student projects within Alma Mater. The pre-Christmas concert in Maribor cathedral saw two wonderful voices: Alma Merklin, our student of physiotherapy, and Darja Švajger, a renowned Slovene vocalist. The audience was also greeted by the Archbishop, msgr. Alojzij Cvikl. The event finished with reception in the premises of Alma Mater for students, teachers and friends of Alma Mater.
