The First Doctor of Archival Sciences at Alma Mater

Miroslav Milovanović successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and became the first Doctor of Archival Sciences at Alma Mater Europaea University.

The doctoral dissertation, under Professor Dr. Miroslav Novak's mentorship, focuses on whether it is possible to develop a model for organizing and cataloging unstructured texts using machine learning. The research was structured into three key segments, addressing the following important research questions:

  1. Developing a model for the independent classification of unstructured content is possible.
  2. Whether the independent recognition of named entities is feasible.
  3. Is it possible to autonomously generate titles for cataloging units?

Research Methodology

The research employed content analysis and experimental methods, allowing for a comprehensive model development approach. Various approaches to creating an implementation model for organizing and cataloging unstructured texts were explored. Additionally, the usability and effectiveness of these approaches in forming cataloging units using the model were evaluated.

Results

The research results show that developing a model for processing unstructured texts, including classification, named entity recognition, and generating titles for cataloging units, is feasible and practically applicable. The model provides a complete formal and applicative framework that can be directly applied to unstructured data processing.

Originality and Practicality

The research offers valuable insights into creating a model for organizing and cataloging unstructured texts while highlighting its advantages. The developed model, along with detailed documentation of its creation, serves as a solid foundation for practical use in various fields related to data processing and can also provide a basis for further research.

"We are all truly delighted for him, as we believe in archival science as an independent, academic, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary field. May this first swallow bring fruitful years for all who will earn the Doctor of Archival Sciences title. We eagerly await you," said the Head of the Department and Archival Advisor, Prof. Dr. Peter Pavel Klasinc, on this occasion.
