At the solemn academic ceremony for the conferral of doctoral degrees, Alma Mater Europaea University welcomed new doctors of science into its academic community this past Saturday.
Awarding a doctorate represents the highest academic honor and recognition of outstanding research achievements that significantly contribute to advancing scientific thought and broader societal progress.
The rector, Professor Dr. Ludvik Toplak, emphasized that in recent years, Alma Mater Europaea University has solidified its position as an internationally recognized higher education institution that connects scientific, artistic, and professional disciplines across all three Bologna cycles. He expressed special gratitude to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and its honorary president, Prof. Felix Unger, for their longstanding support. “A doctoral study at Alma Mater Europaea is not merely education — it is an entry into a global community of thinkers, researchers, and creators who, through their knowledge, help shape a better world,” said the rector.
Alma Mater Europaea is increasingly establishing itself as one of the pioneering academic institutions in the European area. It was among the first to introduce doctoral programs in fields such as physiotherapy, social gerontology, applied artificial intelligence, and strategic communication management. Its study programs follow the highest international standards, while cooperation with distinguished professors and international partners provides students access to the latest research practices and scientific discoveries.
Professor Dr. Damir Boras, honorary rector of the University of Zagreb, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony. In his address, he highlighted the importance of the new doctors of science and the arts for the future of the scientific community and society as a whole.
“I am convinced that you — the newly promoted doctors of science and the arts — are the ones who will continue to drive forward both your own paths and that of our Alma Mater Europaea. You will contribute to the development of education, science, and the economy in your own countries and ours — while representing and promoting the academic, scientific, human, and family values of which we are so proud.
I wish you great success in your professional, personal, and family lives — may they be full of love, mutual support, and young people, who are the only real future for a demographically declining Europe,” Prof. Boras concluded.
Dear doctors of science, we wish for you to continue using your knowledge with responsibility, courage, and vision. May your journey ahead be guided by curiosity, integrity, and a noble desire to co-create a better world. Stay committed to the values of European ethics, culture, and scientific excellence — with knowledge as your strongest ally.
