We impressed the older adults with memory retention exercises

Students of Social Gerontology at Alma Mater Tjaša Rohjt, Tjaša Draškovič, and Nika Žurman, together with their mentors, actively participated in the 21st Festival for the third stage of life.

The most significant event of its kind for older adults in Europe is dedicated to active aging, improving the quality of life of the elderly, and realizing solidarity between generations. "Our

content attracted a lot of visitors. We especially impressed them with exercises to preserve memory and concentration," says student Tjaša Rojht, adding that passers-by also addressed them with recent questions about aging and the profession of a social gerontologist.

Social gerontology is the science of aging and aging processes. It focuses on the process of active and productive aging of people from the point of view of intergenerational coexistence, ensuring social inclusion, and accepting one's age. "Older adults face various social, social, and individual problems, difficulties, and hardships. At the round table, we discussed their position in the grip of the silver economy and digitization in Slovenian society. "Older people are pushed to the fringes of society, which is why cooperation between generations is crucial," emphasizes Jana Goriup, head of the Chair of Social Gerontology at Alma Mater; this is also the slogan of the Festival - We are all one generation.

"In anticipation of a longer lifespan, it is important to also think about the quality of life in old age," said Peter Seljak is also involved in the project on quality preparation for old age. Barbara Grintal pointed out: "Older people must be enabled to live a full, healthy, safe and satisfying life as an inseparable part of the social community."

The female students also measured blood pressure at the Festival while chatting with the visitors about a wide variety of topics in the field of social gerontology.
