Archives and Records Management
The purpose of the Alma Mater Europaea - ECM master’s program in Archives and records management is to educate and prepare students to enter the currently highly underserved archival profession.
Archival science deals with appraisal, accession/submission, arrangement, description, long-term preservation and providing authenticity and use of records.
Records management deals with managing current records throughout their life cycle, regardless the context, format or recording principle.
This study programme offers knowledge, needed for managing archival and current records from their creation to the processes of appraisal, accession/submission, arrangement, description, long-term preservation and use of records. Knowledge obtained through the master study programme will enable the graduates of archives and records management studies to manage records in different environments and with different information systems.

Advantages
Records management processes are embedded in an increasing number of companies as a means to manage risk and cost. Records managers, who are often dually qualified as archivists, are able to set up and implement records management programs at relatively low cost to the organization but with great strategic benefits. The Archives and records management program is invaluable in providing a theoretical foundation for practical experience, and in providing insight into the wider archives and records profession. The varied experience and different academic strengths of the course tutors help to provide students with a well-rounded educational experience.
All our lectures are filmed and e-learning supported. You can watch them in live stream and re-run them at home as many times as you like.
