Alma Mater Europaea – ECM is a partner of the Pharaon pilot project, which aims to realize intelligent and active living for the aging European population by creating a set of highly flexible and interoperable open platforms with advanced services, devices, and tools. At the same time, it is essential to preserve the dignity of older adults and increase their independence and safety.
In cooperation with the other partners of the Pharaon project from Slovenia, a book of peer-reviewed scientific articles entitled Digital help to the silver years: digitization and the contribution of the Pharaon project to improving the quality of life of the elderly were created. The book of abstracts is the result of the two-day international conference Digital Help for Silver Years, which took place in May 2022 in Ljubljana. The book's primary goal is to show a holistic approach to dealing with the aging population and highlight the necessity of changes at the level of legislation, support organizations, education, personnel, cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary cooperation, and the level of development and implementation of new technological solutions.
In the book, the authors defined innovation paths for elderly-friendly homes, modern technologies to help the elderly become independent, new approaches to elderly care, and new principles for designing spaces for the elderly. The papers contain theoretical reviews of the current situation in developing homes for the elderly and organizations in homes for the elderly. Issues and challenges in this area are also highlighted.
