1 GENERAL
1.1 WHAT IS ALMA MATER EUROPAEA?
Alma Mater Europaea is a university in Slovenia. It was initiated by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, based in Salzburg, a society of about 2000 leading scholars, including 37 Nobel laureates.
1.2 WHAT STUDY PROGRAMMES ARE IMPLEMENTED BY ALMA MATER?
The study programmes at Alma Mater are carried out at all three Bologna levels, the common feature of which is a high degree of employability.
Undergraduate: Physiotherapy, Nursing, Public Records, Dancing, Choreography, Business System Management and Social Gerontology.
Masters: Health Sciences, Ecoremediations, European Business Studies, Business System Management, Innovative Management in Tourism, Project Management, Public Records and Documentation, Social Gerontology and Humanities.

The main advantage of study programmes at Alma Mater is that they are created and designed to the highest standards in education with the aim of educating highly employable graduates with knowledge that is directly applicable in practice. The study takes place in small groups, which facilitates connecting and cooperation, learning and communicating.
1.4 IS THE STUDY AT ALMA MATER FULL- OR PART-TIME?
Study at Alma Mater is part-time. Lectures are conducted in the afternoon on weekdays and in the morning on Saturdays. All lectures are recorded and can be viewed at any time if you cannot attend the lecture personally.

Due to the increasing demand for study programmes at Alma Mater, the enrolment is limited for some study courses at the undergraduate level.

All Alma Mater Europaea - ECM study programmes are accredited by the National Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Quality in Higher Education. Comparability and recognition of exams and diplomas ensure consistency of studies at the AMEU - ECM according to the Bologna system, which enables transitions and continuation of studies at national and foreign universities.

Yes. Alma Mater offers distance learning. It is a combination of live lectures, videoconference lectures, recorded lectures, mutual electronic communications and appropriately adapted e-materials. It is an organised form of transferring knowledge to students at a remote location and is intended for those who want to combine their professional work, family, interest activities and studies. Students study at home, individually or in a team, and they determine the time and rhythm of studying.

Information days at Alma Mater are scheduled for February of the current academic year.

Undergraduate study in all study courses of Alma Mater lasts for three years and comprises 180 ECTS credits. The master's degree programme lasts two years and comprises 120 ECTS credits; the doctoral study lasts three years and comprises 180 ECTS credits.
2 ENROLMENT
2.1 WHAT ARE REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLING IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMMES?
Individuals who meet one of the following conditions may be enrolled in undergraduate study programmes at Alma Mater:
• passed general Matura,
• passed vocational Matura,
• any 4-year secondary school programme, completed before 1 June 1995.
Certificates of completed secondary education do not need to be submitted at the time of registration, unless you have completed secondary education with a final examination or abroad.
At registration to study programmes Physiotherapy, Health Care and Dance, choreography, a medical certificate is required.

Limited enrolment depends on the number of candidates and the available study places.

The exact dates vary slightly from one academic year to another. The number of available study places in the secondary application deadline is known in early August.

2.9 PRIOR TO ENROLMENT, I HAVE PASSED EXAMS AT A SIMILAR STUDY PROGRAMME AS OFFERED AT ALMA MATER. WILL THESE EXAMS BE RECOGNISED?
For the recognition of study obligations at other faculties, the application for the recognition of study obligations must be completed. It can be found at https://www.almamater.si/priznavanje-znanj-s63?t=1.
Attach the original copy of the Certificate of completion of examination to the application, the approved course content programme (curriculum) and a proof of payment of costs for the issuance of a decision on the recognition of exams. You will be notified of the decision in writing.
2.10 DO YOU RECOGNISE INFORMALLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCES?
In order to recognise informally acquired knowledge and skills, candidates, who wish that informally acquired knowledge and skills are considered as a condition for enrolment or as part of the obligations of the study programme they are already enrolled in. The candidate must provide all the evidence necessary for evaluating informally acquired knowledge and experience. The process of evaluating and recognising informally acquired knowledge and skills is payable on the basis of a price list adopted by the Alma Mater Management Board.

2.11 I HAVE FINISHED MY UNDERGRADUATE STUDY ABROAD. CAN I CONTINUE WITH MY STUDIES AT THE 2nd BOLONA LEVEL AT ALMA MATER?
Anyone who has a foreign certificate of education and wishes to continue education in the Republic of Slovenia must obtain a decision on the recognition of foreign education for continuing education in the Republic of Slovenia. The process of recognition of completed education abroad begins with the eVŠ application. The procedure is conducted by an authorised person at the faculty/academy where the candidate applied to study.
The time limit for issuing a decision is two months from the date of receipt of the complete application.
3 FEES AND PAYMENT
3.1 HOW MUCH IS THE TUITION FEE FOR A PARTICULAR STUDY PROGRAMME?

3.2 IS IT POSSIBLE TO PAY TUITION FEE IN INSTALMENTS AT ALMA MATER?
Yes. The tuition fee can be settled in one, two, five or eight instalments. For payments in several instalments, an additional 20.00 EUR of administrative costs are charged for each instalment. In case of payment in eight instalments, the first instalment is one-fifth of the price of the tuition fee, while the other four-fifths are divided evenly into monthly instalments.
3.3 ARE THERE ANY ADDITIOANL COSTS APART FROM TUITION FEE?
Apart from tuition fee, additional 50.00 EUR must be paid for registration fee. In the study programmes Physiotherapy and Nursing, it is obligatory to pay extra 50.00 EUR for a booklet of knowledge and skills beside tuition and registration fees.
3.4 ARE CASH PAYMENTS FOR TUITION FEE AND OTHER COSTS POSSIBLE AT THE STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE?
No. Cash is not accepted at the Student Affairs Office.
3.5 CAN TUITION FEE BE PAID BY A LEGAL PERSON?

4 STUDY PROCESS
4.1 WHERE DO LECTURES TAKE PLACE?
Lectures and practical work are carried out at the seat of Alma Mater Europaea – ECM (Slovenska ulica 17, Maribor), a dislocated unit in Koper (Trubarjeva 1), the study programme Health Care takes place in Murska Sobota (Lendavska ulica 9), and some study programmes are also performed at a dislocated unit in Ljubljana (Kardeljeva ploščad 1).
4.2 IS ATTENDANCE AT LECTURES AND PRACTICAL WORK MANDATORY?
Participation in seminar and lab work is 100% mandatory. Attendance at lectures is also mandatory, but since for most subjects the lectures can be viewed through videoconference and later at Moodle, the student must, in this case (if the student di not come to the lecture personally and logged in at Moodle), write a summary which is transmitted within six days after the lecture given to the portal att.almamater.si, to be admitted to attend lectures. 4.3 DO YOU CHECK ATTENDANCE AT LECTURES/PRACTICAL WORK?
Yes. The student uploads the Alma Mater application from the mobile store (App Store, Android Play Store).

4.4 HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK AND WHEN ARE LECTURES/PRACTICAL WORK PERFORMED?
Part-time study is carried out as a rule in such a way that lectures and practical work are conducted once or twice a week in the afternoon. The subjects are supposed to be carried out one after another (it is possible to simultaneously perform two or three subjects). Students perform their obligations on a regular basis, independently or in a team.
5 STUDENT LIFE
5.1 WHAT IS ALMA MATER STUDENT COUNCIL?
The Student Council is the representative body of Alma Mater students, in where all study programmes are equally represented. The main purpose of the Student Council is to promote high-quality studies and studying activities, to effectively involve students, academics and management, and to strengthen the sense of belonging to the profession and to Alma Mater.
5.2 DOES ALMA MATER PERFORM STUDENT EXCHANGE THROUGH THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME?

5.3 IN WHICH PROJECTS ARE STUDENTS OF ALMA MATER INCLUDED?
We support students in all their activities and engagements. In the previous academic year, they were present at the Student Congress of Health Sciences in Slovenj Gradec, attended competitions of faculties of health care in knowledge of emergency medical aid and first aid in Izola, participated in the presentation of Alma Mater study programmes at secondary schools in Slovenia, at the Education and Professions Fair Informativa in Ljubljana, the Contemporary Medicine Fair in Gornja Radgona, the Senior Carnival in Ptuj and all other major promotions. Under the auspices of the student council, the following projects are implemented: Physiotherapy for young athletes, Correctional group exercise, Dance for the elderly, "Staying Alive", From birth to first step, and many others.
5.4 WHAT SOCIAL EVENTS ARE ORGANISED FOR STUDENTS OF ALMA MATER?
Social events for students are organised by the Alma Mater Student Council, in cooperation with tutors, Alma Mater team and representatives of individual years. In the academic year 2016/2017, we were socialising at a student party in the Podroom club, a working meeting in Ritoznoje, a trip to the club Rotovž, a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Red Cross and UKC Maribor, the "Wings for Life" run in Ljubljana, a sports picnic in Zrkovci.
5.5 ARE THERE ANY EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS OF ALMA MATER AND WHICH?
Students of Alma Mater are involved in many extra-curriculum activities. The tutoring system is effectively organised, they are included in the "Team Alma Mater" sports club, which competes at university volleyball, football and basketball tournaments. Students are very active as volunteers, in the field of awareness about healthy lifestyle, they work with Humanitarček, help with children and adults with special needs, help homeless people, and, in the framework of social gerontology, they involve the elderly in a variety of activities. In the carnival period, they organise a large senior carnival for the elderly from all over Slovenia in Ptuj. Students also participate in preparation of scientific contributions at international conferences and research. For students, we organise a German language course free of charge, where they also learn terminology from the field of study at their request, since many students find work in neighbouring Austria after graduation.
5.6 DOES ALMA MATER HAS ITS OWN LIBRARY, IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF INTERLIBRARY EXCHANGE?
Alma Mater is proud of its library fund. The largest collection is available in our premises in Ljubljana, and an ever-growing library is also available in Maribor. If there is no available material in our libraries, we organise an interlibrary loan. 5.7 IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF TUTORSHIP AT ALMA MATER?
Yes. At Alma Mater we have a tutoring system that is aimed at facilitating the study of novice students and overcoming the difficulties encountered in the new living environment when moving from learning to study. Properly trained tutors regularly conduct contact tutorial lessons and give students good advice on how to solve problems or where to turn to help solve study and other problems that students encounter during their studies. In addition to tutors students, tutor teachers are also available.
6 SPECIFICS OF INDIVIDUAL STUDY PROGRAMMES
6.1 PHYSIOTHERAPY
6.1.1 What is the curriculum of the study programme Physiotherapy?

6.1.2 What is clinical training?
Clinical training is an active practical participation of students in learning bases, with the emphasis on integrating knowledge acquired during study, into practice, and acquiring practical experience.
6.1.3 Where does it take place and how long does it take?
Clinical training takes place in various institutions (hospitals, clinics) in Slovenia as well as in Austria, with which the faculty has a contract. In the first year, the student has to undergo two weeks of hospital training, in the second year four weeks at the hospital and two weeks in a health resort, and in the third year three times a week in three different institutions.
Clinical training is expected to begin in March. You will be notified in a timely manner about the choice of the institution and dates.
6.1.4 What is a practicum?
The aim of the practicum is to transfer theoretical contents into practical work and the scope of the ability to perform the work of a physiotherapist in the field of orthopaedics, traumatology, burns and plastics, rehabilitation, internal department, gynaecology and obstetrics and appropriate decision-making and action.
6.1.5 Where does it take place and how long does it last?
The practicum takes place in various institutions (hospitals, health spas) in Slovenia and in Austria, with which the faculty has a contract. It lasts four weeks.
6.1.6 When can I take part in the practicum?
You can take part in the practicum after completing certain study obligations (with the exception of subjects Legislation in Health and Psychology).

6.1.10 Where do lectures/practical work take place?
Lectures and practical work are held exclusively at AMEU – ECM in Maribor, Slovenska ul. 17, from the academic year 2017/18 also in Koper, Trubarjeva 1. Practical work takes place at Terme Dobrna and Murska Sobota.
6.2 HEALTH CARE

6.2.2 What is clinical training?
Clinical training is an active practical participation of students in learning bases, with the emphasis on integrating knowledge acquired during study, into practice, and acquiring practical experience.
6.2.3 Where does it take place and how long does it last?
Clinical training takes place in various institutions (hospitals, homes for the elderly, health care homes ...) in Slovenia and Austria with which the faculty has a contract. In the first year, the student must complete ten weeks of training in the elderly home, and in the second and third year, the student will be given 15 weeks in various fields.
Clinical training is expected to begin in January. You will be notified in a timely manner by e-mail about the choice of the institution and dates.
6.2.4 What should be done after finishing clinical training?
After the completion of clinical training, all documents must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office or sent by post to: Alma Mater, Lendavska 9, 9000 Murska Sobota.
The student must submit:
– minutes of exercises (with completed first part, student data); the second part is completed by a higher education teacher - the clinical training coordinator;
– evidence of attendance at clinical training or absence from clinical training; in the event of absence, photocopies of proof of absence must be attached;
– clinical training assessment sheet (completed by a clinical mentor in points I and II); the evaluation sheet must be submitted after each part of clinical training;
– records of interventions carried out - nursing activities;
– completed training nursing documentation;
– a copy of the evaluation questionnaire;
– signed minutes of exercises.
Clinical training documents must be signed by the clinical mentor and the main mentor in the educational institution. You must bring the booklet of skills and knowledge to the colloquium.

6.3 SOCIAL GERONTOLOGY
6.3.1 What is social gerontology?
Gerontology is a science of aging processes and aspects of later stages of life. Social gerontology, a branch of gerontology, focuses on the process of aging of people from the perspective of intergenerational coexistence, ensuring social inclusion and accepting all stages of life as equally important.
6.3.2 Why do you think the study programme Social gerontology is perspective?
According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the life expectancy at birth in Slovenia has been prolonged by more than ten years in the last 50 years. In the next 50 years, it will be extended for six or seven years. Today, more than one-sixth of the total population of Slovenia (18.4%) is inhabited by people aged over 64, and in the next four decades this proportion will increase to a third (29.5%). The population aged 50-64 years represents more than a fifth of all inhabitants of Slovenia. The above data indicates a great need for properly educated and trained social gerontologists.

Practical training is carried out in different institutions (homes for the elderly, work management centres, at centres for social work,…). In the first year, the student must take 40 hours of professional practice, in the second year, 80 hours, and in the third year, 120 hours.
6.3.6 What should be done after practical training is finished?
After the completion of clinical training, all documents must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office or sent by recorded post to: Alma Mater Europaea – ECM, Slovenska ulica 17, 2000 Maribor.

6.4 DANCE, CHOREOGRAPHY
6.4.1 Why is the study programme Dance, choreography perspective?
Alma Mater Europaea - Academy of dance is the only higher education institution with an accredited higher education program Dance, choreography in the field of dance art in Slovenia, and the only one in Europe for the field of social dance and therefore of a national significance for the development of Slovenian dance creativity, performances and dance-pedagogical profession. The vision of the AMEU - Academy of Dance, is to become and remain the most important and the highest quality educational institution in the field of dance, which follows the most modern creative and competitive trends, and at the same time transfers the most valuable experience of the most important domestic and foreign artists to the students.

6.4.4 Is there a difference in the method of carrying out studies by individual courses?
Yes. The course Modern dance is based on dance classes. At Contemporary dance, many hours are dedicated to dance - dance techniques and composition. Ballet is pedagogically oriented, therefore the candidates do not perform practical dance-choreographic part of the exam, unlike Modern dance, where you have to perform a talent test (audition) at enrolment.

6.5.1 Is the profession of an archivist deficient?
Yes. According to the Act on the Protection of Documentary and Archives and Archives, all public law entities, holders of public authorisations and public services should have educated archivists, and there are at least 3000 missing in Slovenia.
