Tanja Skok (1971) is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher, currently employed as Head of rehearsal for the permanent dance ensemble EnKnapGroup. She acquired most of her formal education at the London Contemporary Dance School, where she graduated and also acquired her Master’s degree as the part of the ensemble. Her choreographic work largely combines synthesis of modern dance expression with historic dance forms, as she researches dance forms of renaissance and baroque along with modern dance. She was an active dance teacher throughout her dancing career. She taught across Slovenia and abroad and had lead Intakt dance studio for many years.
I combine the process of warming up, learning specific techniques of body position and movement principles and danceability, while developing general coordination, spatial orientation and relationship to rhythm, sound and music. Class is largely based on principles and methods of the Cunningham technique, therefore the emphasis is on systematic articulation of entire spine, development of dynamics and precision of leg work and feet in particular, which leads to a specific way of transferring the centre of gravity.
