The dancers of the Dance Academy impressed the audience with their dance production

The Dance Academy of Alma Mater Europaea presented the annual production of students of the 1st and the 2nd study year, Modern dance, under the title “Dance, Dance, otherwise we are lost”, produced under the choreography of Pina Bausch. "The girls showed an enormous improvement from the last year. This is a good sign and the invitation that the study at the Dance Academy is a high-quality study programme and that the teachers train students to become excellent future teachers of modern dance«, said dr. Svebor Sečak, the Dean of the Dance Academy after the show.

The performance included a mix of various techniques and procedures that students are confronted with during the entire academic year, upgrading them together with mentors into individual parts as well as rounded production and into dance sequences.

The movable part of the performance and the technical readiness was articulated in subjects of modern dance technique, ballet, improvisation, composition and creative research process, musical, intercultural dance practices and the play executed by: Urša Rupnik, Maša Kagao Knez, Tamas, Tuza, Joan van der Maast, Maayan Danoch, Vita Osojnik, Leja Jurišić, Kaja Lorenci, Gregor Luštek, Matjaž Farič, Jana Menger, Maja Delak, Rosana Hribar, Matevž Česen, Brina Vogelnik, Ana Pandur Predin, Branko Potočan and Branko Završan.

In this interesting fusion of different genres, the audience was able to follow the development and upgrading of last year's production and knowledge of students, discover new dance talents, and interesting choreographic and methodological approaches offered by the Academy of Dance. Last year's final production of the students of the first year of the Academy of Dancing took place in the form of a play entitled Sweet Dreams; a dream of the enthusiasm of both critics and the audience. The students were named the best group of the year after being chosen by the audience of the Parade Dance and were seen as the surprise of the year during the dance highlights of 2017, according to the choice of actor, director, writer, editor, dance and art critic Niko Goršič. Solo passage from the performance of Mani Vukelić and Katja Kolarič won two silver prizes at the national dance competition Opus 2017. The students took part in numerous festivals across Slovenia, including the largest Slovene theater festival Borštnikovo srečanje 2017.

Through modern research of the motional, theoretical and aesthetic elements of artistic creation, the poetics of the bodies of each individual student are opened, which, with their personal, sincere approach and expression, contribute to the overall choreographic partitures and to rethinking what contemporary dance is all about today.
