First doctor of science from the field of Project management

"Alma Mater Europaea - ECM (Alma Mater) marked an important event in the development of its academic activity on September 30, 2021 – the first student finished his PhD in the field of project management and received the doctorate of science in project management," explained prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak, President of Alma Mater. Among the well-wishers was also professor Mladen Radujković, study dean of the doctoral study programme Project Management at Alma Mater.

Alma Mater Europaea professor Jurij Toplak, who serves as a visiting professor at the Fordham University School of Law in New York, moderated the talk between the President of Slovenia Borut Pahor and fifty Fordham Law students. The event took place on Wednesday, September 22, in New York.

Alma Mater collaborator becomes president of the Austrian Physiological Society

Prof. Dr. Nandu Goswami, a collaborator and researcher at Alma Mater, was recently appointed president of the Austrian Physiological Society. Dr. Goswami, who is employed at the Medical University of Graz, regularly participates in research projects at Alma Mater and in the preparation of scientific articles.

ISH has a Fulbright fellow

We are proud of the doctoral student and president of the Alumni Club AMEU - Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (ISH) Dr. Maja Gutman, who is this year’s recipient of a Fulbright scholarship. “Between 1 October this year and 15 February next year, she will be researching at the UCLA Department of Anthropology in the US. She will gain new insights into her research “Phenotypes of dreams: data supported dream pattern modelling”, explained prof. Dr. Lenart Škof, Dean of AMEU - ISH. Dr. Gutman will also be a guest lecturer at ISH in the next academic year.

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has appointed Borut Ambrožič, Head of the INFO INPEA POINT at Alma Mater Europaea - ECM, as a member of the Commission for the Management of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

The INFO INPEA point for health protection and protection of the rights of older adults has been operating at Alma Mater Europaea ECM for several years. Borut Ambrožič, the head of the info point, a local expert on non-governmental organization and in the field of health protection and related human rights, has been appointed to the Commission for the Management of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) for the second term.

Students participated in the rehabilitation of elderly people, who have recovered from COVID

Kristina Kerbler and Matjaž Lobnik, master students of physiotherapy Alma Mater, performed testing of elderly people who have recovered from Covid-19 at the Danica Vogrinec Nursing home in Maribor. This took place under the watchful eyes of their mentors Mladen Herc, M.Sc. assistant prof. dr. Tine Kovačič.

New president of student tutors is Nikita Polner

The first meeting of new student tutors in the new academic year 2020/2021took place via video conference. This year, there are as many as 33 of them in all study fields, which is the highest number so far. Among all the candidates, Nikita Polner, a third-year student of Physiotherapy program, was elected president.

Professor Jurij Toplak at the Yale University roundtable

On October 16, the Yale Law School organized a roundtable about democracy in Eastern Europe. Sarah Genty, a Yale J.S.D. candidate, moderated the virtual event titled "Autocratic Legalism in Europe". Kim Lane Scheppele, professor at Princeton University, presented her research on deteriorating democracy in Hungary and Poland. Other presenters included the Ombudsman of Poland Dr. Adam Bodnar, and Paul Kahn, professor of constitutional law at Yale.
